EDUCATION
FOR SOCIAL TRANSFORMATIONL
UNESCO leads and coordinates the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. The strategy is based on the fact that education transforms people’s lives as well as communities and societies.
In this regard, we conduct the following activities in the Education for Social Transformation programme:
PROMOTION
We promote education as a tool for social transformation, working with education agents in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country and in other regions and driving education initiatives that use inclusion and sustainability to help transform societies.

PARTICIPATION
We are involved in the UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet). It comprises 11,500 schools across 182 countries and facilitates the exchange of education experiences, projects and materials about the culture of peace, human rights, interculturalism and sustainability. UNESCO Etxea drives this education programme in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country and participates in the team coordinating the network across Spain.
DISSEMINATION
We disseminate the 2030 Agenda in schools in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country to inform and raise awareness among students and teachers and invite both to take part in collective events promoting the SDGs.
We also disseminate UNESCO reports on transformative education and translate these into Basque, including the Global Education Monitoring Report.
