PRESENTATION

UNESCO Etxea wishes to contribute to incorporating the cultural perspective into human development, both within the international setting and at local and regional level, with special emphasis on cultural and linguistic diversity. Therefore it has created a specific line of work which goes by the name of “Culture and Human Development”, aimed at creating a deeper theoretical understanding of culture and promoting it as an engine of full human development.

Aims

  • Promoting the inclusion of the cultural perspective in the dynamics and considerations of full human development.

  • Gaining an in-depth knowledge of, and disseminating amongst Basque society, current international debates on the topics of cultural freedom, cultural diversity and cultural rights, in the United Nations and UNESCO, above all, and studying possible practical applications.

  • Helping to internationalize and disseminate Basque initiatives promoting the cultural perspective in development.
