UNESCO Etxea participates in the world water week

This coming 9th September the parallel event The added value of the Human Right to Water and the Human Rights Approach to improve Water Quality will take place, organised by BothENDS, Swedish Water House (SWH), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), ACRA and UNESCO Etxea.

The World Water Week is a key annual international forum on water. The forum is organised by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) together with civil society organisations, water operators, political leaders, international bodies and other key agents in order to examine the responses to the global water challenge.

In 2010 the World Water Week will take place between 5th and 11th September under the heading The water quality challenge and will explore aspects like prevention, reasonable use and the reduction of contamination, and will also present the current situation and the future solutions, proposals and experiences.

There is growing acknowledgment that access to water and sanitation must be considered a human rights issue. The parallel event, in which UNESCO Etxea will take part, seeks to set out the progress on the issue and emphasise the added value of a human rights approach to improve access to water and sanitation in the field, with special focus on the issue of water quality.

Information on the event can be found on the official web site of the World Water Week
