Seminar in Lea: nature, society and wellbeing

Millennium Ecosystem Assessment in Bizkaia-Basque Country is a project within the conceptual and methodological framework of the United Nations International Science Programme Millennium Ecosystem Assessment that aims to raise awareness of the relationship between healthy ecosystems and human wellbeing, as well as any consequences of human activity on them.

Lea is one of the areas being studied. The seminar will be held on the 25 June in Centro de Interpretacin de Energas Renovables BENGOLA, NATUR ENERGIA -Interpretation Centre for Renewable Energy- (Munitibar) and aims to make the inhabitants of Lea and the general public more aware of the health of the ecosystems in the area and their relationship with human wellbeing.

The specific objectives for the day are:

To raise public awareness of the current international context, explaining the importance, both on a global and local scale, of keeping ecosystems healthy for people (an in-depth look will be taken at the importance of agricultural ecosystem services).
To provide information on the results obtained for the local area of Bizkaia and Lea in particular
To discuss possible ways to help managers make decisions that influence the public's wellbeing.

The seminar will include a guided tour of the BENGOLA, NATUR ENERGIA interpretation centre and renewable energy park.
