World Toilet Day

November 19th is called World Toilet Day, the day to celebrate the importance of sanitation. The main goal of such celebration is to pay attention of world society to toilet and sanitation conditions worldwide. The day was established by World Toilet Organization, a global non- profit organization, which is working to bring awareness to sanitation.

Nearly half of the world's population, approximately 2.5 billion people, lives without an access to toilets and proper sanitation, every single day 5.000 children die from diseases related to lack of adequate sanitation (like diarrheal illness and other infections).

Events dedicated to the World Toilet Day will be held all over the world. A Big Squat will take place in Australia, Canada, Rwanda, Singapore, Zimbabwe and USA - thousands of people are going to squat for one minute in recognition of the people without access to safe toilets. Seminar on World Toilet Day at the National Press Club in Dhaka will take place in Bangladesh. Activists group from Belgium will demand more free public toilets and the photo exhibition of school toilets will be held in Germany. The contests for the best toilet among the schools will take place in India and Tanzania. Dozens of other events from funny games to scientific seminars dedicated to the World Toilet Day will take place all over the world.

If everyone works together - we can make a difference says the slogan of World Toilet Organization and calls to take part in events dedicated to the World Toilet Day.
