UNESCO Etxea participates at the human right to water week at Expo Zaragoza

On 11th September, the Expo Zaragoza 2008 FARO Citizen Initiative Pavillion, EXPOs unique space for the participation of non-governmental organisations and social movements, hosted the roundtable organised by UNESCO Etxea The human right to water: situation and challenges. This roundtable is set within the Human Right to drinking water and sanitation thematic week.

Distinguished experts who collaborated in the book published by UNESCO Etxea on the issue participated at the roundtable which tackled the current state of the situation of the human right to water and sanitation in the world and reviewed the latest progress and debated the challenges pending.


The following participated at the roundtable:

  • Mara Bustelo, Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Team, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

  • Carlos Fernndez-Juregui, Coordinator of the United Nations Office to support the International Decade for Action Water, source of life 2005-2015.

  • Thorsten Kiefer, Official for Legal Affairs of the Right to Water Programme of the Centre on Housing Rights and Eviction (COHRE).

  • Felipe Gmez Isa, Professor of Public International Law at Deusto University and researcher for the Pedro Arrupe Human Rights Institute.

  • Mikel Mancisidor, Director of UNESCO Etxea.
