Celebration of the UNESCOs 70th anniversary and presentation of the UNESCO Basque Country Network

The Basque Parliament has hosted today an official event to celebrate the UNESCO’s 70th anniversary. During this event, has been presented the rich, diverse and dinamic "UNESCO Basque Country Network".

This network consists of more than 20 entities such as seven Basque Schools members of the UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet), five UNESCO Chairs in the University of the Basque Country and Deusto University, three UNESCO Clubs and Centres, two World Heritage sites, a Biosphere reserve, a Geopark, two libraries members of the UNESCO Network of Associated Libraries (UNAL), a city member of the Creative Cities network as a City of Design, a city laureate with the 'UNESCO Cities for Peace Prize' and a UNESCO Artist for Peace.

Furthermore, participated cultural, scientific, educational and social basque associations and institutions, members of the Basque Government, the Bureau of Parliament and all parliamentary groups.

Among others, addressed the event the Secretary-General of the Spanish National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO, Mr. Federico Palomera; The former Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of the Kingdom of Spain to UNESCO, Mr. Ion de la Riva; The President of the Basque Parliament, Ms. Bakartxo Tejeria; The President of UNESCO Etxea, Mr. Ruper Ormaza; The President of the Catalan Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations, Ms. Dolors Reig and The President of the Spanish Confederation of UNESCO Centres and Clubs, Ms. Silvia Martinez Canton.
